Hello! Welcome to our class blog!

Please follow the instructions to create your personal blog:

1. Go to www.blogger.com.
2. Create your personal blog. Name it EDLI635 Theory and Practice of Literacy Instruction. (It is very easy. However, if you need tutorial to create a blog, here’s the link to the tutorial video:http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=j0SPjIaGTnw
3. Once you successfully created your EDLA635 blog, cut and paste the URL and post it on the Discussion Board, under Blog URL forum.
4. Link my blog to your blog. My blog URL:  http://edli635fa15.blogspot.com/
5. You can then play around with the template and the fun features of the blog. Sample blog:  http://ellproject2011.blogspot.com/
6. Important reminder: you have the option to set your blog private and only open for the members in this class. Go to blog Settings, click on Privacy, select No to both (add to the listings and let search engine find your blot) to keep your blog in totally closed environment (only our class witht he link will be able to access). If you wish to share with your colleague or family, then you can skip this option.

Reasons of using weblog:
1. Each one of you will create e-blogger to document and communicate your learning progress. (We need to practice what we are preaching. Learning by doing. Infusing technology in what we learn).
2. We will explore the use of weblog to enhance the learning of language arts and the “new literacies” practices. (If you have never heard of “new literacies,” it is okay. It is the highlight of this course. We will learn and practice “new literacies” together. You can certainly Google it to begin with. But as I said, we will learn the concept, the development, and the application of “new literacies” throughout this semester).
3. We will explore the possibility of using weblog to document students’ language arts learning progress for assessment and instructional planning purposes.
